The Day after the Fair

by Thomas Hardy

Set in the early 1900s, the plot centres on Anna. She's spotted by a handsome young man at the local fair. Of course, she's flattered and charmed by his attentions. Innocent, but not shy, the girl agrees to meet him again on the day after the fair. A spring Sunday walk to a quiet spot and nature does the rest. A few days later a love letter arrives from London. But how can she reply when she can neither read nor write?

'The Day after the Fair' is pure romantic fiction, but in Hardy's hands, a master storyteller, it will have you gripped; the outcome in the balance all the way to the final curtain.

‘The Day after the Fair' opens on Tuesday May 17th with further performances on Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th, Friday 20th and Saturday 21st. Curtain up at 7.30pm.
