Rope takes Festival by storm

 

Fulneck more or less swept the board at the 2018 Wharfedale Festival of Drama. Our production of the Patrick Hamiltion thriller collected five awards. The judges voted it ‘Best Overall Production’. Alacoque Marvin collected the ‘Best Director Award’; Angela Lambert (Best Supporting Actress); Paul Cullingford (Best Supporting Actor) and there was a ‘Best Stage Presentation Award’ for Dougie Brennan. Dougie was also back on the podium a few minutes later when his name was called out for the ‘Spirit of Theatre Award’, recognition for his hard work, craftsmanship and creativity as our lead set builder over the past 20 years.

Sam McKay has been a busy boy since collecting the ‘Best supporting actor’ award at the 2017 Wharfedale Festival of Drama. His innovative production of ‘Oliver Twist’ for professional outfit, ‘Front Room Productions’ was on tour in November including a run at Leeds’ Kirkgate Market where it was performed amidst the stalls once the market had shut for the day.

 

 

 

Other former Fulneck actors now working professionally include Adam Shaw. He’s been at a cinema near you appearing alongside Michael Palin, Simon Russell-Beale, Jason Isaacs and Olag Kurylenko in ‘Death of Stalin’.

 

 

 

 

Meanwhile Tom Booth is starting rehearsals at the Grange Theatre, Northwich where he’s appearing the their panto, ‘Wizard of Oz.’
